Novena to St. Nicholas of Tolentine for the suffering Souls in Purgatory. Sept. 1 - 9
Novena to St. Nicholas of Tolentine for the suffering Souls in Purgatory.
Sept. 1 - 9
.
Saint Nicholas, Patron of the holy souls, pray for us.
Remember, O gentle and compassionate Lord, the pity that stirred Thy heart when the cry of misery and sorrow came to Thy ears in Israel.
How Thy eyes searched the rocks for the poor lepers who called to Thee; how Thou didst reach out Thy hand to the child of Jairus and to the widow’s son at Naim,
How the tears came to Thy eyes at the tomb of Lazarus.
Look upon Purgatory, the land of suffering, where souls that love Thee await the touch of Thy healing mercy.
Through the merits of Thy great sufferings reach out Thy hand once more to relieve the poor souls in their sufferings.
O Lord, hear our prayers unworthy though be. We unite them to the prayers of Thy holy servant, Saint Nicholas, which he offered to Thee through the silent hours of the night.
Hear our prayers for those who cannot plead for themselves; and grant to the holy souls in Purgatory happiness and rest.

DE PROFUNDIS
.
Out of the depths I have cried unto Thee, O Lord, Lord, hear my voice.
Let Thine ears be attentive: to the voice of my supplication.
If Thou, O Lord, shalt mark our iniquities: O lord, who can abide it?
For with Thee there is mercy: and by reason of Thy law, I have waited on Thee, O Lord.
My soul hath waited on His word: my soul hath hoped in the Lord.
From the morning watch even unto night: let Israel hope in the Lord.
For with the Lord there is mercy: and with Him is plenteous redemption.
And He shall redeem Israel: from all his iniquities.
Eternal rest give to them, O Lord.
And let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace. Amen.
