.
Prayer of Saint Bonaventure.
.
V. Pierce, o most sweet Lord Jesus,
R. My inmost soul with the most joyous and healthful
wound of Thy love, * and with true calm and most holy
apostolic charity, * that my soul may ever languish and
melt with entire love and longing for Thee, * may yearn
for Thee and Thy courts, * may long to be dissolved and
to be with Thee.
.
V. Grant that my soul may hunger after Thee, the Bread of
Angels
R. The refreshment of holy souls, * our daily and super
substantial bread, * having all sweetness and savor *
and every delightful taste.
.
V. May my heart ever hunger after and feed upon Thee Whom
the angels desire to look upon,
R. And may my inmost soul be filled with sweetness of
Thy savor; * may it ever thirst for Thee, the fountain of
life, * the torrent of pleasure, * the fullness of the house
of God;
.
V. May it ever compass Thee,
R. Seek Thee, * find Thee, * run to Thee, * come up to Thee,
* meditate on Thee, * speak of Thee, * and do all for the
praise and glory of Thy Name;
.
V. With humility and discretion;
R. With love and delight, * with ease and affection, * with
perseverance to the end; * and be Thou alone ever my
hope, * my entire confidence, my riches, * my delight,
my pleasure, * my joy, my rest and tranquility, * my
peace, my sweetness, my food, * my refreshment, my
refuge, my help, * my wisdom, my portion, * my
possession, my treasure; * in Whom may my mind and
my heart * be ever fixed and firm and rooted immovably.
* Amen.

Novena Prayer to Saint Bonaventure.
.
V. O Glorious St. Bonaventure, Son of St. Francis, Cardinal,
Bishop and Doctor of the Church.
R. Thou chose a life that embraced mortification and great
humiliation. * Thou made thy life a continuous prayer *
and spent hours meditating upon the wounds of Christ.
* Thou chose to serve those who were rejected and
sick, * even risking thy own good health.
.
V. By thy merits, intercede for us that we may have a
sincere and humble heart.
R. Pray for us Oh St. Bonaventure, * that we may
never lose sight of Our Lord’s Precious Wounds *
and thus walk on His narrow and straight path
towards eternal salvation.
.
V. St. Bonaventure, thou wert known to say ‘One should
carefully beware of decreasing, even in the slightest, the
honor that is due to Mary.’
R. May we strive as thou didst * to love our Blessed
Mother * and carry true devotion to her * and
consecration to her Immaculate Heart * to all the
world, * that God may grant us His grace, mercy
and peace.
.
V. We beg of thee to place our petitions
(Pause and state your intentions)
.
V. In the loving hands of our Blessed Mother.
R. For we know they will be warmly received by her
Son, * Christ our King. * Amen.
.
V. Hail Mary...
R. Holy Mary...
.
V. In the Name (✠) of the Father...
R. Amen.
