The Marian title for the patroness of Easy Childbirth, which is quite popular throughout western Europe, is traditionally celebrated on May 29. The title is also known as Santa Maria del Parto; Santa Maria del Buon Parto; Nuestra Senoa de la Leche; and Our Lady of the Milk and Happy Delivery; Our Lady of the Milk; and La Madonna del Parto to whom a church in Naples is dedicated. In France, she is venerated as Notre Dame de Bonne Deliverance on December 16. She is also known as Vierge de la Délivrance; Our Lady of Good Deliverance; Our Lady of Deliverance; and Our Lady of Happy Deliverance. One of the most celebrated Madonnas in Paris if the 14th century image carved from a single block of hard limestone known by the title La Vierge Noire de Paris. It was saved from destruction during the Revolution and is now preserved in the Church of St. Etienne de Gres in the Latin Quarter of Paris, where it replaced an earlier statue probably of the 11th century. The Institution of the Confraternity of Our Lady of Deliverance was established at the Church of St. Etienne de Gres in 1533 or 1583. Spanish explorers and missionaries brought veneration of the Our Lady of Good Delivery St. Augustine, Florida, in the New World, where they established a shrine in her honor in 1565. In eastern Europe, the title is represented by the Help in Birth-giving Icon from Russia, celebrated on January 8, and the Milk-Giver Icon , also from Russia, celebrated on January 25.
